SUMMER TO SERVE We use our summers to serve God locally, nationally, and globally. Locally, students have opportunities to go to the Dream Center in Los Angeles or Developmentally Disabled Camps. Nationally, we have taken trips to a Navajo Tribe in Arizona and hurricane relief in New Orleans. Globally, students have served in Malawi (Africa), Nicaragua, Puerto Escondido, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
MEXICO We have adopted a church in a small colonial just outside Tijuana. We participate in construction projects and minister to the families in the community. Furthermore, we provide full VBS type programs including skits & recreational times prior to the showing the Jesus film. Our students come back changed as they learn to serve and to give sacrificially. Weekend trips provide the crowd and congregation level students the tangible opportunity to meet the needs of others. Parents are welcome to participate so they may catch the vision for missions or serving in youth ministry. Our purpose is to encourage them by evidencing the growth in their own son or daughter.
Inner-city We encourage the students to participate with "Hope in Action" to make sandwiches and hand out food to the homeless at Skid Row one Sunday a month. Students serve at The Dream Center, located in Echo Park. This is a great opportunity for students to minister in our own backyard. Students participate in food distribution to the needy, VBS ministry to local elementary schools (Metro Kids), Skid Row ministry, Evangelism, and adopt-a-block.
Special Ministries Hope Chapel has provided a disability outreach program for over 25 years and gives students an opportunity to serve as program & camp staff for the various programs & activities throughout the year. Students who participate in this program testify that although they are there to bless the persons they are serving⦠If the truth be told that their lives are enriched & their eyes are opened to the joy of serviceā¦
Project Serve Community service open to all students. Students gather pledges for the day's work to raise money for camps and activities for the entire year.
